These Jalapeño Margaritas are a spicy twist on a classic cocktail! They are citrusy, light, and refreshing, with a little kick! Perfect for Taco Night or your next Fiesta!
I’m so excited for today’s recipe!! These margaritas are refreshing with a kick, and I’ve got a guest contributor that’s hotter than a jalapeño.
I’ve introduced him here before, but I have to tell you about my husband for just a minute. Nick has a heart of gold and is A Slice of Sweet’s number one fan. He believes in me when I doubt myself, and I would not be writing this post, sharing these recipes, and following my passion if it wasn’t for him. Oh, and he is pretty darn attractive and funny.
He also makes THE BEST jalapeño margaritas!!! Talk about a keeper.
We LOVE Mexican food. And lately, rather than eating out all the time, we’ve started a fun tradition of Fiesta Friday (or Saturday or Sunday, depending which night we are home during the weekend). We’ll run by a Mexican grocery store (Fiesta or El Rancho) and pick up freshly made corn tortillas, fajita marinated chicken, Julio’s tortilla chips, salsa, and all the necessities for guacamole. I make the guac and he’s in charge of the tacos. It has become one of my favorite meals with him!
We’ll also pick up a Mexican beer (Sol is a favorite), but lately we have been LOVING these Jalapeño Margaritas! Nick makes these with a jalapeño-infused tequila and fresh lime juice. It’s a spicy twist on a classic cocktail, and they are citrusy, light, and refreshing, with a little kick.
Cinco de Mayo is next Saturday (yay!), so these would be the perfect addition to your Mexican menu. Or your next Fiesta Friday date night in! 🙂 Be sure to check out my Mexican Brownies recipe and my Fiesta Pinterest board for more inspiration!
Jalapeño Margaritas
These Jalapeño Margaritas are a spicy twist on a classic cocktail! They are citrusy, light, and refreshing, with a little kick! Perfect for Taco Night or your next Fiesta!
Ingredients
- 1 cup tequila
- 1-2 jalapeños sliced
- Triple Sec
- Lime Juice
- Superfine sugar
- Lime wedges for garnish
- Kosher salt for rim
- Ice
Instructions
-
Pour tequila into a measuring cup or small bowl and add ½ or whole of a sliced jalapeño (depending on how spicy you want it). Set aside to sit for one hour or up to one day (the longer you let it sit, the spicier your margaritas will be). Once you are done infusing the tequila, strain the mixture and discard the seeds and jalapeño slices.
-
To make a margarita, add 2-3 jalapeño slices to a cocktail shaker, and lightly muddle them in the bottom of the shaker. Add 1 ½ ounces of the jalapeño infused tequila, 1 ½ ounce of Triple Sec, 1 ½ ounces of lime juice, and 2 teaspoons of sugar. Shake to combine.
-
Run a lime wedge around the edge of your cocktail glass and turn your glass upside down on a plate with kosher salt. Add ice to the glass and pour margarita into glass. Add lime wedge to rim of the glass for garnish.
